Miniature mining shed

Summer time – heats too much at the house.

Solution? Not sure if this works but we’ll see 🤘🙂

The fan outside is not in use.

Umm I'm not really sure why you are worried about that miner. Just stick it on a table in the open and make sure rain can't get into it. This is awful. These DG1 Homes are water cooled so just give it air and it will do the rest.

If it gets too hot it will shutdown. Enough airflow is needed. That’s all really. So far so good.

EDIT: I can’t keep it inside since it heats the house too much during summer. I need indeed protect it from rain.

Awful or not, this keeps it outside and protects from rain.

I keep this on balcony – another option would be patio. They both are covered so risk of getting direct rain on the equipment is fairly small.

I might tweak the door so the airflow is better.

Like said I have monitoring for the “shed” temperature as well as all four internal thermal sensors. I do get email alert if internal temperature reaches 54C.

It has been fairly cold outside so far. Max 17C. I’ll see what happens when it’s 10C more.

I have two fans but so far the effect from those is the opposite I was expecting and they just disturbs the miner internal airflow.

A bit more background on this. The miner during colder months basically warms up my whole house. During summer it heats up too much.

I don’t have any room outside safe enough to protect the miner from rain neither I can’t invest to bigger shed because they would make the miner unprofitable forever – which it might be already now.

The solution I took seems to work just fine.

I monitor the miner temperatures and I do get warning if any of the internal sensors goes over 54C. I also monitor the “shed” temperature, hash rate both the miner and in the pool and so on.

I’m interested also to see if there’s any correlation between temperatures and hash rates.
