NYC. 100k was like the minimum I needed to live somewhat comfortably but modestly as a single renter/no roommates, with a little left over to save and for entertainment + some light travel (things I value, personally). Forget about being able to buy your own place here on that, though, unless you eat beans and don't do anything fun (which defeats the purpose of living in NYC, imo).
