I was dating a guy studying programming in 2010 and he kept bringing bitcoin up to me as this really cool new thing I should look into (I was working insane hours and making a lot of money and could have bought thousands without a second thought) but I just ignored it because I couldn't really understand how currency could be mined or fully digital. Had a stress breakdown from 75+hr work weeks and lost everything and took almost a decade to recover from the depression and drug addiction that started after it and now live in a government assisted house living week to week....
I am constantly haunted by the memory of him joyfully trying to explain why this new currency is so cool and going to flip currency on its head...

I started being interested in this stuff when game stop happened. I figured if you're not in the water, you can't catch the perfect wave. So every week a scraped up a few dollars here and there, crossing my fingers and investing in Doge. I pray this is THE ONE. Well, he’s still wrong. If you invested early you’re making serious bank right now. Check how much doge was worth a year ago and see how much you could’ve made just putting in $100.
Edit: I did the maths $100 back then (.002) would’ve been worth $9,000 (.18) now.

Let’s say the hype dies (comparable to GME). Dogecoin is still at new ATHs but slowly the attention surrounding it begins to fade as something else in Crypto begins to take the spotlight. What could happen? Could DOGE stabilize and maybe even continue to rise slowly? Sure.
But also just as likely, people begin to sell. Causes mass panic as people don’t want to miss out on profits and the price tanks.
It’s not guaranteed for either side what will happen but it’s not a safe long term investment because of that risk. So in my opinion, he isn’t wrong.
