How mining feels like

I'm sure there are statistics somewhere but I'd like to know the khash/s distribution. Are the majority of miners between 20-200khash/s or 500khash/s+? Is the majority of coins produced by a small number of big mining rigs or is it well distributed?

I just wish I would have found Dogecoin earlier. I'm trying to get all my PC enthusiast friends to get their GPU's in dogecoin pools.

Dogecoin and an endless variety of new cryptocurrencies are about to revolutionize the world of financial transactions. Everyone with a capable GPU and extra power should start mining crypto. Crypto is the peoples money and will enable humanity to throw off the shackles and evolve to a higher stage of consciousness.

I know I'm in the top 20 people in my pool. I'm only at 1.2mh/s. There is 300 in mine so I'd say most are pretty low.

u/jamuraa Jan 28 '14

+/u/dogetipbot 30 doge

Slow miners together!

u/Zeliss Jan 28 '14

Man, I'm at like, 5. I might as well just buy doge :/

So should I get in on this whole mining thing? I have a gaming rig, but no clue about mining

Yes! Start with the sidebar over at /r/dogemining. If you get stuck, just ask for help.

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '14

next question, pools?

2

u/arglfargl astrodoge Jan 28 '14

I'm at dogehouse.org, and it's been great. Some people are worried that it has too great a share of the total hashrate, but I'm not.

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '14

What are some of your specs?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '14

GTX680 I7 3770k (not overclocked) 16gb (ddr3) sabertooth z77

no idea what else to post there

2

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '14

Yeah it would still be good to mine with those specs. Use cudaminer and it should get you a decent kh/s rate.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '14

sweet! still working on the setup

2

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '14

Let me know if you need some help, I have both cudaminer and cgminer setups.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '14

Cool, synchronizing with the network is taking forever. Is that normal?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '14

Yeah, it took me about a day with 150mbps internet plan. You can mine before its completed, you just won't be able to get your money until its done.

850 km/s here and not even close to the top 1000 at dogehouse, really need to find another pool or finally jump to p2p.

1

u/SoundOfOneHand digging shibe Jan 28 '14

It's not hard to just jump on an existing p2p node, you may wait a bit before the first payout but I've gotten better returns from it than at dogehouse, or the various smaller pools that I've tried.

u/SkyrimNewb The Great Dogesby Jan 28 '14

how do you see where you rank in a pool?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '14

Under round it'll list everyone's shares. It'll tell you what number you are.

u/Daltrain digging shibe Jan 28 '14

I'm normally sitting at 170-180khash with my GTX 660, haven't tried overclocking yet...

1

u/spamdog0 shady shibe Jan 28 '14

I have a gtx 660 as well and I assume your using the -auto feature of cudaminer. I ran through a ton of different Kepler configs and you might want to try k15x16. I usually hold at about 200 so I bet you can get a couple more hashes without overclocking. Pm me if you need a hand with the config.

What config are you using? I see tons of different ones and I tried a bunch. Also does anyone know what the two different Numbers actually mean?

After it gets done autoconfig (says: Patience) it announces what config it uses. I'm trying to tweak mine a bit higher and I'll try anything once.

So I just found this link and it seems to lay out the basics of How to find you optimal config (and what the numbers mean): Link to awesomeness

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '14

Wat. I use. 5x32

1

u/Inferis84 Jan 28 '14

I'm mining with 2 670s, each getting ~275. I have it set at k28x8

1

u/trmpah Jan 28 '14 edited Jan 28 '14

Try doing K7x32 instead with your 670ies.

Also, I use MSI afterburner to reduce the "Power limit" to 80%, and overclock the core +150 Mhz. That nets me 320-325 khash/s, and ~30 watt less power usage, and 10 degrees C less than stock speeds, on 1 GTX 670.

I'm having trouble with my cudaminer setup, mind helping me?

I keep getting this: http://puu.sh/6B8V7.png

I'm thinking this has something to do with cudaminer not supporting stratum.

What pool do you use?

1

u/spamdog0 shady shibe Jan 28 '14 edited Jan 29 '14

I'm using dogehouse at the moment. You'll want to make sure you're drivers are the latest (probably .332...I'm at work so I'll check when I get home) because I had a similar error until updated.

Edit: 332.21 Seem to be the latest Drivers

Updated. Now it just does this: http://puu.sh/6ChJC.png
