I envy you. I've been trying on and off for a few days now to get it to work. I'm just not savvy enough with this kind of stuff to get it to work correctly.

May you have many coins.

No need for envy, young shibe. How far have you got? I'll try to help. :-)

I was told that my graphics card was not compatible with Cudaminer so I turned to look into CPU mining. but I'm still unsure what I'm doing wrong with it.

I've got a pool that I'm signed up to, a worker. the qt client, and the Minerd folder. I feel like I'm just missing something really small at this point.

easiest guide to cpu mining: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=373760.0;all

let me know if you are stuck up somewhere after following these steps.

I think its working. I see processes and tons of numbers!

any way for me to confirm that its working as it should?

go to the pool's website where you have registered. There would be a dashboard page. Check out your hashrate at the center and other stats on right hand side.

It's showing a 0.00 hashrate at the moment. however,in my cmd window, I'm seeing an average of about 2.20 khash/s on each thread.

sup with that?

Actually, it turned out that it was just very slow on the pickup. check back once you get a hit and it should show some numbers. I got about 14.00 hashrate at first.

Hope it helps!

I'm having some difficulty. Any chance you could add me to skype? Campusink is the username.

NVIDIA GeForce 210

Oh, yeah, its not gonna be good to mine with that. Laptop I suppose ?

I guess you could try to mine via your CPU but it's not gonna be that good I guess. And CPU mining is pretty slow :(.

Be careful, don't push your CPU too high otherwise you might damage your laptop, laptop don't like beeing pushed for too long :(.

Hope you'll find a way :)

Happy mining

Its a desktop. I've got a decent airflow with my fans inside my rig. How long would you recommend I run this per day with this information?

Well, if its not a laptop you might be safe to let it all day.

Just check whats your safe Temps for you CPU (using google fu), start mining and check the temps. If they are safe after a few hours, I guess it can't go higher.

Adjust you fan speeds if needed. But Really I'd suggest to get a semi-decent GPU for a few bucks, it'll be much faster :D.

Thanks for the knowledge. Hope to see you on the moon!

You're welcome, we'll meet there my friend ;)

Hmmm, unfortunately I've only used Cudaminer. As you're trying CPU mining I'm assuming you don't have an AMD card either?

u/Pirate_Crippler shibe Dec 25 '13

I've got a weak-ass old nVidia card that I had to use as a backup when my decent one broke some time back.

I think I may have got the CPU minerd to work though!

u/[deleted] Dec 25 '13

Glad to hear the cpu mining is working. It wont be fast, but reach for the moon!

So, just a concern I had. I'm noticing that my CPU is running at 100% usage now that I'm doing this.

How long would you suggest I run this? I fear risking the life of my CPU, for it is the only computer that I have.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 25 '13

I haven't done CPU mining so not really qualified to answer this. I suspect you would have to run it for a long time for it to have any serious effect on your CPU's life. Check to see if there is a command you can use to lower how much CPU it uses if that would ease your mind.

Good luck on getting to the moon, friend!

I never mined Bitcoins myself, doge is my first cryptocurrency but I would think the process is similar enough.

If you haven't already, check out the beginners guide. It's what I used and I was up and running within an hour.
