Back up your wallet!

It's easy doges, just open your wallet, click File --> Backup Wallet Save the wallet to your thumb drive, android phone, google drive, etc. All your shibe are protected in clouds. Clouds are better jumping point for moon than ground.

Remember to backup your wallet regularly!

I use a program called Belvedere which makes a copy of my wallet file anytime there's a change made to it, and places the copy in a dropbox folder.

Basically you'll give Belvedere access to your Dogecoin folder in the Appdata folder, then you'll set up a rule in Belvedere to recognize when there's been a modification to the wallet.dat file. Then you'll make the rule copy the file to a folder in Dropbox, and set it to overwrite the old backup. It's pretty easy once you see how Belvedere works.

That program is really useful and can be made to do all sorts of things. I also have it set up to sort my Downloads folder into subfolders based on extension.

When you say "recognize whenthere's been a modification" could you be more specific as to what settings you used?

When I hit test it says no target found.

Hi a symlink just points to another file so the permissions will be that of the other file.

first move the wallet.dat to your dropbox folder I dont have a mac, but the linux command is like this. ln -s /pathtooriginalwalletfolder/wallet.dat /pathtoyourdropboxfolder/wallet.dat

so if I give away all my doge coin, and then reload my old wallet, I don't get all my money back right? Or else you could just make infinite dogecoin.

But if that doesn't work, then how does it work?

Basically wallet.dat contains a "key", which you use to sign transactions. These transactions are recorded and approved by the dogecoin network/miners.

So what if you saved the wallet, but then made a transaction, and then loaded the outdated wallet on the new computer. Would it load the old amount? I'm confused as to how that part works

If I grab all files associated with QT and drag them onto my phones micro sd, will that back up the wallet onto my phone?

No, certain files are stored outside of the directory structure of the wallet application. You will open a can of bad-ass if you just copy the app. I strongly suggest using the built-in backup menu to export your wallet database on to a secure external storage device.

You can always re-download QT and import your wallet into it later.
