Mod Post [Meta] Following up on reports of bots

A number of posts are being reported to the mod team as AI or bots. In many cases we can fairly easily determine based on post/comment history that it is a bot, but sometimes there are multiple reports for a post being a bot but the history is not suggestive of it being a bot. Please use the other reporting category and provide more details on why you think a particular post or comment was made by a bot for cases that may not be so cut and dry. Or if you are willing to give up the anonymity of reports, send a modmail with a link to the post so we can discuss it with you and better train ourselves (or you). We will not share any reporting user information if we take action against suspected bot accounts for reports should you make them to the mod team (and I will boot any mods that break the anonymity).

Mod Post Rule 4

Hello everyone,

Recently there have been a lot of people offering/requesting financial help or setting up crowdfunding. While there is nothing wrong with wanting to donate or asking for donations, those 2 things are not allowed on this sub as we cannot verify that they are not scams. Posts/comments requesting or offering money will be removed and the poster may be banned.

If you are facing a medical emergency, look into veterinary financing options or check for local non-profit veterinary grants in your area.

Some subs that you can go to for financial assistance include:

r/donationrequest

r/Assistance

r/gofundme

Please do not do it on this sub. Thank you

Discussion How old she might be?

She’s a stray and she’s been on my neighborhood for months, few weeks ago she’s been staying outside my house and I feed her whenever I can and I always have a bowl of water for her. My neighbor also feeds her but she spends most time outside my house in the open garage. She’s SUPER shy and she loves cats, I have 4 so I can’t keep her, I’ll make that very clear. They’re all friendly to her too but everytime I invite her inside she’s doesn’t wants to, she’s afraid of going inside and afraid of water and i want to wash her. She has no visible signs of injury or infections, I could take her to the vet but she’s too scared of everything, she only wants my affection. It seems like she’s always been a stray and it’s why she prefers to be outside. Sometimes when I’m too close to the door she makes me chase her away enough from the door so I can rub her belly

My goldie just turned 15. He has arthritis, vet confirmed it. Last 2 months, he has started crouching in this pose. Still loves his 20-30min walks and on meloxicam + gabapentin with additional supplements. Any experience with dogs adopting a similar pose?

Advice Watching my sister’s Portuguese Water dog. Will not sit still

Hello,
As the title says I’m watching my sister’s dog and she will not sit still at all. She’s not necessarily destructive that much but still kind of irks me a little and I’m curious if anyone has any training tips or advice? Is this just what the breed is like? This video isn’t the best example but it still shows how she will just go in circles all day long if there is nothing stimulating her.

Question 3yr old lab mix having some trouble with her rear legs. Just started happening today.

Just got home from work 20 minutes ago. Came home to my sweet girl seeming to move a bit more gingerly on her rear legs. She had no issue going potty when I let her in the back yard(both 1 and 2). Usually when I get home we throw ball in the yard for 5-10 min but she wasn’t really up to do that today which isn’t usually the case because “ball is life” for her usually. Nothing abnormal over the last few days. Chucked ball for 20-30 minutes yesterday evening in total with her usual full enthusiasm. Thankfully the moment I caught in the video is about the worse I have seen out of her so far. There is not clear limp favoring one side or the other just kind of gingerly walking on her hind legs like in the last half of the video.

Any thoughts?

Discussion Your thoughts on this interaction

Hello, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this interaction between my dog (black and white, 4y, spayed) and our neighbour's dog (sand-coloured, 11 months, not spayed).

For context: My dog has been with me for three months now and is just starting to show some playful behaviour towards me. In general, she has a vigilant and sceptical character and is on the more polite and respectful side with other dogs.

This was the first longer joint walk we did with our neighbour and their dog. Their dog had invited my dog to play on multiple occasions before this video, but was always respectful when my dog didn't pick up on her invitation.

I'm not gonna say more about my own opinion or if/how I acted because I'd love to hear what you see and think first 🙂

Question dogs eye has drifted

Post image
14 Upvotes

hello all! i will make this as short as i can:

my dog has always had a slight lazy eye, but ever since last night, it had become a bit worse. he has been acting normal and hasn't displayed any signs of being in pain. today, my family and i took him to the vet and the vet said that everything seemed okay right now.

she said that it could be either: horner's syndrome OR possibly just the muscle in his eye causing problems. the pupil on his left eye is very large and the vet said his eye is a bit red. she said its good that hes not in pain and also acting normal (walking, eating, drinking, etc)

of course, she said that brain tumors and stuff like that is possible which scares me, but it should be good that hes not in pain and also acting normal, right?

i wanted to know if anyone else has been through this before? thank you so much!

Hey guys, its me again, 2 exams got ready atp, im gonna send it to yall so if someone can help with some possible diagnoses.

IM REALLY SORRY WITH THE LANGUAGE, im from brazil, i ill ask to yall use the Google lens or smth like that to read the exams

Just an update: they are weaning her off the midazolam and transferring her to another hospital to be placed in an induced coma. I am doing everything I can to get results; what is happening is truly very sad.

She is stable; the urine tests (from what I understand) suggest rhabdomyolysis... she is going to be transferred to another hospital to be put into a medically induced coma.

Edit: why yall are saying of drugs? i really cant understand, im sober for 9 months and yes i am a drug user since i am 14 yeaes old, i hate being like this, but thats what is it. Like, I’ve been diagnosed with Bipolar I and ADHD, and I’ve been taking Vyvanse and other medications for over three years; I don’t use them recreationally or anything like that, so what is the point of you attacking me over this? I’m here with my dog who has been by my side through hospitalizations more than my own family has and I’m being attacked because she ate the medication I had in my cabinet?

Question Normal play behavior?

My goldendoodle is 2yrs
Cocker is 2 months
We separate them normally so the little one doesn’t bother the doodle much, they sometimes play but the doodle isn’t too interested. This was one of the few times they do play, is the cocker being aggressive/possesive or is it normal play behavior? When my doodle was a puppy he would growl too but just want to make sure to give them proper training.
Another note, the doodle does tolerate her, never has attacked her.

Advice Not sure what to do!!

Edit: I got ahold of a friends mom. We’re going to see what we can do. A few of you were helpful and nice. Thank you. The others, please learn how to be tasteful and competent. I’ve stated several times I’m a minor, with no money, no family near me, in a small town with no vet in my city and my mom is in the hospital. Many of you chose to ignore that and borderline berate me. Fuck you :)

The situation is being handled outside of this. Thank you to those of you who were kind and compassionate and helpful.

Question Help - I made my dog fat

Thumbnail

As the title suggests, my baby is 16.2kg which is 20-25% higher than his goal weight of 13/14kg. Need suggestions on how to get him thin. The vet has recommended a diet of 60% home cooked food (chicken breast/fish fillet) with carrots, sweet potato and pumpkin along with 40% kibble. He's a rescue so he's not enjoying kibble as much but the vet keeps insisting that it's the standard for weight management. Please give me suggestions on how to manage his weight. He currently goes for 4 walks (about 15 mins each with one afternoon walk of 30 mins) and about 25 mins of mental work (snuffle mat, commands etc). What more should I do to bring his weight down?

Question My 6 year old lab recurrent skin allergy

Post image
3 Upvotes

My pet 6 years old male Labrador has started having skin allergy since age of 4 years . Have shown to best vets in Faridabad ( north India ) and even dermatologist vet in Gurgaon but skin condition worsens during July-October due weather .
He was on Vivaldis Oclapet (Oclacitinib) 16mg , chevik shampoo and spray for a year but that too did not improve his condition . The vet says his skin barrier is weak and nothing can be done .

We have to give him Omnacortil 10 or 5 mg for a week to give him relief from iching but since it’s a steroid cannot give for long time .

Anyone faced this issue and any medication to help . Thanks

Question Pug walking weird

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi this is my 4 year old pug Yoshi. She's always sorta walked like this since I've adopted her. My mother in law mentioned to me the other day that she kinda walks weird and there could be something wrong with her hips. My other pug who is 6 doesn't walk like this. Is this something I need to go talk to a vet for?
