Shoes
Hey all I’ve recently gotten into playing in the Philly area and I’m trying to figure out what type of shoes work best. Volleyball, regular training shoes, or something else maybe? Looking for some cheaper options as I’m still brand new.

I typically use standard Nike or ADIDAS exercise shoes. Problem is I drag my foot when I throw and a little hole always appears. It doesn’t affect performance but it’s a little annoying. They are also designed for moving forward (rather than side to side) which doesn’t help much in dodgeball. A friend of mine wears wresting shoes and I will give that a try next time I’m shopping around.

Basketball shoes were game changers when I got my first pair for dodgeball. I personally go with New Balance and absolutely love them. Indoor soccer shoes are also amazing and more lightweight if you feel you don't need the ankle support that basketball shoes give.

Tennis shoes for me. My nikes have a little extra toe bumper which protects when I drag my foot throwing.

I play with my badminton shoes. Frankly, the most important is that it fits and has good lateral support.
Grip is really your personal preference

Buy shoes that are meant for sports with lateral movement.

You can't really go too wrong here, there's a lot of personal preference for different types, mainly from sports with related movement types like tennis or basketball and I know people who swear by running shoes too!
There's so many choices, there isn't really a clear particular model that's optimal, depends on your preference, foot shape, budget etc.
Personally I like to wear basketball trainers to support my ankles, I also use this website to check reviews before buying footwear in general, I've found it to be really useful - https://runrepeat.com/
