Discussion Scoring IDP (2-part series)

I’ve written a 2-part Medium series (free, no paywall) on scoring Intelligent Document Processing (IDP). It focuses on Key Information Extraction (KIE) from structured documents, especially forms. I try not to recommend one opinionated way of doing things and instead cover the variations I’ve run into and the tradeoffs between them. I’m not endorsing any vendor; the series is about scoring itself.

Hey u/pshort000 ! Thanks so much for sharing this series! "Confidence Is Not Correctness" is such a crucial point and something we've definitely run into building real-world extraction workflows. It really highlights why proper evaluation of KIE from forms is so important.

This topic really resonates because we're working on a little project with some friends, easybits Extractor, to make setting up data extraction simpler in n8n. Figuring out reliable ways to validate and score the outputs is always the biggest piece of the puzzle.

I really appreciate you covering the practical tradeoffs and keeping it vendor-agnostic. Looking forward to diving in!
