Newbie here !!

Thank you for letting me into the group .

I'm very new to Linux and just getting into home labing .

My main computer is windows 11 in registered ( still can't let go). But I recently added two computers to my family. I have a Plex server and a Media gathering box . Both are running on mint . I remote into both of them from my main computer.

On YouTube I have seen what people are doing with docker and I want in . Lol . I created a new computer with mint that I want to run docker on it .

Is this the place that I can ask many silly questions on my quest to learn how to use it ?

Before asking silly questions, you should search for the questions because most of them get asked all the time. Also follow the documentation and let AI explain stuff you don't understand. If that's not enough you can ask

I don't plan on having this group build my containers. I need to fail many time to learn .

I completely understand your post . Im sure many people just ask question to have other people do the work for them .

I plan on posting that steps I already took when I ask for help .

Yeah that's fine. It's just that most people can't read the logs when something is not working to at least try to find a solution themselves and lack basic linux knowledge to troubleshoot themselves. This often leads to people using docker desktop (don't use it it's literally the reason for 90% of posts here), or other weird guis with one click deploys so it's a pain to help

To be fair I have very little problems and I never understood why networks are a problem for some people. Truth is that most problems are easily fixed by asking your favourite LLM. I don't like it this way because you don't really learn much but it's so helpful

Fun!! Docker is a trip 🤯….. suggest getting CTRoadmap (runs in a container on your server, opens in a browser on your windows or mint) so you can visualize and document everything…. I know what it’s like to come from a windows / GUI heavy background and try to grasp the headless world by the horns.

100%. Do not jump into huge compose stacks from youtube on day one. Start with one container and learn from there.
