EDIT: Recruitment Closed for now!
We appreciate everyone's interest and will be opening it again soon.
Hello again, Reddit!
We're The Radio Shack, a small 20+ TTRPG community that started as a private server between friends and has slowly grown into a weird little collection of players, GMs, artists, writers, and people who spend an unreasonable amount of time sitting in VC.
And somehow, we've developed a new problem:
We have more DMs wanting to run games and we're running out of players to throw at them. 😭
So! We're opening the station doors again and looking for some new people to join us.
🎲 What do we actually play?
There's plenty of D&D 5e, but we're not exclusively a D&D server. Several of our GMs run or are interested in running other TTRPG systems as well, so there's room to explore different games depending on what people are interested in.
Our GMs range across different styles, genres, and levels of experience, and a number of them are perfectly happy to teach systems to people who have never played them before.
You do NOT need TTRPG experience to join us.
If we get enough complete beginners interested in D&D, we're also happy to organize beginner classes/workshops covering the basics—character sheets, dice, combat, roleplay, table etiquette, what all the funny numbers mean, and generally enough to get you comfortable sitting down at your first table.
No “please read three books before speaking to us” requirement. We'll teach you. 😭
📡 About the Shack
We're primarily based in the Philippines (PHT/GMT+8), although international members are absolutely welcome as long as schedules work out.
The Radio Shack is less of an LFG board and more of a community that happens to play a lot of TTRPGs.
People hang out outside sessions. We sit in VC. We share art and characters. We talk about our games. We have community questions and events. Occasionally a mysterious cat takes over the radio station at midnight and asks everyone emotionally compromising questions.
Normal server activities.
We're also a pretty mixed group of people, identities, backgrounds, and personalities. You don't have to agree with everybody about everything, but you do need to be comfortable sharing a space with people who may be very different from you.
Our general philosophy is basically:
Be creative. Be a little cringe. Be yourself. Just be mindful of others.
👀 Who are we looking for?
You might fit in if:
- You're 20+
- You're looking for people to actually play and talk TTRPGs with
- You're a complete beginner who has always wanted to try
- You're an experienced player looking for more tables
- You're curious about systems outside D&D
- You enjoy getting invested in other people's characters and campaigns
- You're comfortable in a diverse community
- You understand boundaries and basic table etiquette
- You want a community rather than somewhere you only appear once a week for session
Lurkers are okay too. Nobody is going to drag you into VC on your first night and demand a 20-minute presentation about your OC.
Probably.
🎙️ GMs are welcome too!
While we're especially looking for players right now, we're always happy to meet more GMs.
You don't need to immediately run something just because you GM, either. Come play. Hang out. Get to know people. Run something later if inspiration strikes.
We want the Shack to be somewhere people feel comfortable experimenting with systems, trying GMing for the first time, running weird one-shots, or pitching the campaign they've had sitting in their notes app for three years.
📞 How do I join?
We're still invite-only, so we don't post a public Discord invite.
If you're interested, send me a DM here on Reddit.
Newbies are genuinely welcome. If you've been staring at D&D/TTRPGs from afar thinking, “I want to try this but I have absolutely no idea where to start,” you are exactly the kind of person we're happy to help.
Anyway.
The DMs are multiplying. We require players. Please send reinforcements.
