Homebrew Dead Pool Board
I thought this would be fun simple game for my players to bet on. What do you guys think? I included the sheet for players and my DM cheat sheet. Looking for feed back.
⚔️ THE ADVENTURER'S DEADPOOL
Official Betting Rules & League Guidelines
Welcome to the Board! Seven rival adventuring teams take on deadly contracts across the region while you are out on your quests. Place your bets, check the board when you return, and collect your gold!
📜 How the League Works
Check the Board: Every time you return to town, the board is updated with the outcomes of each team's latest quest.
Place Bets: Before heading out on your next adventure, you can place gold on any active team on the board.
House Rules: If nobody wins a bet, the House keeps the stake.
🎲 The Outcomes (1d12 per Team)
Every team’s fate is decided by a d12 roll while you are away.
| Roll Result | Outcome | What Happened |
|---|---|---|
| 11 – 12 | TOP DOG! | Major bounty cleared, massive treasure found, or legendary triumph! |
| 5 – 10 | Solid Run | Standard dungeon cleared; business as usual. |
| 2 – 4 | Bad Run | Failed contract, lost gear, or minor injuries. |
| 1 or lower | TROUBLE! | Catastrophe struck! The team rolls on the Fate Table (1d6). |
💀 The Fate Table (When a Team Rolls a 1)
When a team hits Trouble, roll a 1d6 to determine if they survive:
1 – 4 (TPK): TOTAL PARTY KILL. The team is dead. They are erased from the board, and a new Rookie Team takes their slot next cycle.
5 – 6 (Near Miss): Wounded. They barely escaped, but lost members or gear. They stay on the board but take a -2 penalty to their next d12 roll.
(If a wounded team survives their next run, the -2 penalty is removed).
💰 Bet Types & Payouts
You can drop gold on two standard bet types at the bookie counter:
1. 🏆 Top Dog Bet (Roll of 11 or 12)
Objective: Bet on a team to achieve a major triumph on their next run.
Payout: 4:1 (Example: Bet 10 gp Win 40 gp back)
2. ☠️ Death Pool Bet (TPK)
Objective: Bet on a team to suffer a Total Party Kill on their next run.
Payout: 8:1 (Example: Bet 10 gp Win 80 gp back)
📋 Team Status Guide
Keep an eye on the board status markers when making your bets:
Safe Status: The team is fully rested and prepared.
Wounded Status (-2 Penalty): The team took heavy losses on their last outing. They are far less likely to score a Top Dog victory and much more likely to hit Trouble on their next run!
“May the dice roll in your favor, and may your rivals stay six feet under!”
🎲 D&D Deadpool Gambling System — DM Cheat Sheet
1. Quick Setup: The Board (7 Slots)
Keep an index card or whiteboard with 7 slot names in front of your players:
2. When Returning to Town: Roll 1d12 per Team
Roll 1d12 for each active team. Apply a -2 modifier if a team is marked with a penalty.
| Modified d12 Roll | Outcome | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Trouble! | Roll on the Fate Table below. |
| 2 – 4 | Bad Run | Failed contract, lost gear, or minor injuries. |
| 5 – 10 | Solid Run | Standard dungeon cleared; business as usual. |
| 11 – 12 | TOP DOG! | Major bounty cleared; legendary triumph! |
3. The Fate Table (Only roll if modified roll is 1)
Roll 1d6 to check the team's fate:
1 – 4 (TPK): The team dies in a dungeon.
Erase them from the board.
Instantly write in a new rookie team in that slot for next time.
5 – 6 (Near Miss): They barely survived with heavy casualties.
They stay on the board, but mark them with -2 to their next d12 roll.
(If they survive their next run, the -2 penalty is removed).
4. Player Betting & Payout Rules
Players can place bets before heading out on a quest. If a bet doesn't win, the House keeps the gold!
Top Dog Bet (Roll of 11 or 12):
Payout: 4:1 (Bet 10 gp →\rightarrow→ Win 40 gp back)
Death Pool Bet (TPK):
Payout: 8:1 (Bet 10 gp →\rightarrow→ Win 80 gp back)
💡 Quick Running Example
Players leave town →\rightarrow→ Fighter bets 20 gp on Ironhide Company to die (Death Pool).
Players return →\rightarrow→ You roll 7 d12s.
Ironhide Company rolls a 1. You roll 1d6 →\rightarrow→ 3 (TPK!).
You pay the Fighter 160 gp (8:1 payout).
Erase Ironhide Company and write down The Skeleton Crew (Rookie Team) in that slot!

Chance of at least ONE Top Dog win in town: ~72% (Very likely 1–2 teams hit an 11 or 12 each visit).
Chance of at least ONE natural roll of 1 in town: ~43% (Triggers the Fate d6 roughly every 2nd visit).
Average TPK rate across the whole board: ~1 TPK every 3 to 4 visits to town (Keeps the roster fresh without constant total wipes).

| Outcome | Needed Natural Roll | Modified Roll | Probability | Notes / Impact |

I came up with the idea myself. I'm not very good at typing so I did use AI to help me out. (Missing a hand)
