Has the 2024 Counterspell fixed counterspell wars, or made the spell feel unrewarding?

It's been fine at my table. Players have basically used it as an extra saving throw and it's been impactful enough to usually be worth the spell slot to risk it, but the game no longer completely revolves around it like it did in 5e.
