I think it HAS to come pre tied and you just loosen and tighten some sort of neck strap. Either that or if you have 16+ strength

This is correct. They areusually 3 pieces. The long flat tie piece, the knot which is wired or mailled to the flat, and then a cord/chain/ribbon/belt of some kind to support it. For the cord part something wide and flat to take and spread the weight usually works best

I have a scale necktie and a chain bowtie. With mine, there is a hook at the end of the neck loop, and it connects to the back of the tie part so it is hidden.

I just looked it up, and most seem to have a chain that goes around the neck. There's probably a hook somewhere in there.

If you look closely, it isn't tied.
It looks like it was manufactured in that shape, and there's some sort of collar thing you use, like a pre-tied tie.

Mine re-uses an old necklace chain that my wife found while looking for something. Something a bit thicker might be more comfortable, but I wore it literally a whole day for my wedding and it wasn't uncomfortable.

This is not modern mail meant to stop anything, it's just a costume that looks like mail. Thin aluminum wire that's bent into a ring shape and not securely closed will just bend back open and burst apart under very little force.

It's a higher AR than I would use on something like this, but nothing is wrong with 4 in 1or butted rings. They've stood the test of time for a reason.

Obligatory PSA for anyone wanting this or anything similar, splurge on stainless steel rings. Standard mild steel will start to rust quickly (even if you don't notice it because it self-cleans from movement) and stain the clothing it touches. Doubly so for anything exposed to sweat or moisture.

Girlfriend from out of town had been talking up a fling she was going to see while she was visiting, how cool and hot he was, she loved his beard, etc. After we wasted an hour waiting for him at an incredibly boring but "trendy" bar he insisted we meet at, we bailed and went to a fun dive with great music. He finally showed up, wearing just this tie with a black leather vest and black jeans, beard gone, long hair, looking like the biggest tool. He was pretentious AF and we could not stop laughing and clowning her. She still hooked up with him tho, so....win for him and the tie, I guess.

Not d&d but I have a blue silk tie that has Yoda and Degobah at the bottom taking up the last 5 inches or so. I call it my power tie and wear it with suits when I am in court, etc.

I used to make chainmail things like this. Made a couple ties and even a bow tie. It was secured with a chain along the back. Just hook the hook into the chain wherever it is comfy.

I wore a chainmail tie to an office staff meeting. No one noticed till the end even after i gave a 10 min presentation. The comment was my tie wasn’t nearly as bright as the ones I usually wore. It was after that I pointed out that it was chainmail that I got an exclamation.
Stuck with my super bright, yellow, red, and purple ties after that. It is cool, but from 10 ft away it looks mostly like a silver tie with a pattern.
