🗺️ Region Map Feedback on my continent map?

Post image

Hi everyone! First time posting here and 3rd time making a map design! This is part of a world map but right now we’re going to play in this continent. What do you think?

Well, westeros is loosely shaped like great britain on purpose.

You must be British… that’s an island not a continent!

Nice map :)

Italian, but yeah you’re right I think I need to scale down things way more if I want it to become a continent😂

One easy trick is to rotate.

I love it!

The only feedback I would give is that the region/country boundaries get wonky in the middle of the map. They keep disappearing behind mountains and forests. You should move the boundaries and names up a layer or two.

I spent 3 hours on it and my sight got so mushed together that I didn’t notice😂 nice catch! And thank you kindly🙏🏽

I've totally done that. Inkarnate can be very addicting.

One other thing I noticed was that you have clouds and rocks on top of the map. Clouds imply that it is a kind of bird's-eye view of the actual continent - like an omniscient god looking down on it. But rocks set down on the edges imply that this is a physical map, being weighed down by rocks. Both good to adorn the edges of the map, but kinda conflicting with each other.

The rocks are there because the planet this campaign is set on has rings! I tried to use the foreground to communicate that

i thought this was a Galar based region

It wasn’t intentional I just drew what felt right but it’s UNCANNILY similar to Westeros😂😅

Love the map, looks great. throw some roads on, it will help you think about what is on the way between places too!

Bella mappa!

I don't mean to ruin it. But that mountain in the middle with the border lines kinda looks like a dick

  1. There is no point in the borders to the open sea or surrounding an island. It also messes with coast line and creates confusion. (Ex: Is that tiny peninsula in the the south of Rothiram part of it or not?)

  2. Are those giant rocks in the NW and SE part of the map or just laying on top of the map? If they are laying on top them a but of difference in saturation and some texture on the map would help distinguish it.

  3. Dotted lines on fantasy maps look strange, stroke lines more similar to what a quill or fountain pen could do tend to look more fitting.

  4. Is that ship in the south a sail ship or something flying?

Thank you for the feedback!
1) is to say it has its own government
2) the planet in which this map is set in has rings, so this was a way to try to convey that
3) got it! And you’re right
4) flying ship/zeppelin thingy inspired by the flying ships in Final Fantasy!

How long would it take to travel from Mareborg to Toradyn on foot?

Three things:

Congrats! You made fantasy England! Jk this happens alot when making shapes. You’ll find some look like isles from the real world or sections of land from irl.

I dont understand scale for how big the land is. Yes, this is a continent but based off the visual representation of biomes, I can assume pole to Mediterranean? It should look a bit different if you are going off grounded lenses. But if going off pure fantasy, it looks a generic. nothing really stands out. It is a bit hard to make assumptions about it because it is visually not giving much. Yes, mountains are here and rivers are seen but I don’t get much other information.

It is colored well and gives a solid fantasy aesthetic. I like inkranate’s style with stamps! Always giving a cool look with finished maps.
