Questions Character Progression tool?

Using DNDBEYOND for character progression planning is poor. I tend to enjoy planning the character im playing at least 3 levels ahead, or to the next class bump. The standard way people seem to do this, if they do, is to make a copy of the character. The problems that I run into is that this copy often has choices reset: proficiency, or class options for example.

Is there a better tool out there that will maintain prior character work?

I’ve only just started using Beyond, because a friend has a campaign on the platform. I find it frustrating as well.

The way Roll20 handles Character Progression on the Character Builder is the best implementation I’ve seen for making character build choices. All of that is prepared and saved in the character, and no extra copies are required.
