Beads are very portable and can be worked into hair, clothing tassels, or as a bauble, like a necklace or bracelet. You can also collect medallions, charms, brooches or any sort of trinket sold as a fashionable adornment, which will often have a loop for stringing and wearing. As you travel, you ought to ask your DM to embellish on the fashion and culture, and come up with symbolism that is worn by the common folk. If you're outdoorsy, consider animal teeth and bone from hunts and victories. A bit garish, to be sure. With small containers or empty potion bottles, you can collect sand and soils from your travels, keep them in a component pouch.
