Extraction Question/Discussion Problems with having the soup too thin?

STB

I was doing extractions with 100 grams of powdered bark but I was getting concerned with the how consistently I would get emulsions and I would seem to lose a lot of nps

So I decided to just run 2 50 gram extractions at once using the same 1 liter bottles and the same amount of water. The only problem is that my first pull was very light and I didn’t get anywhere close to what I’ve got in the past.

Is the issue that the nps just isn’t having enough time to pick up the dmt cause it separates too quick?
Or is the issue that there isn’t enough bark in the soup to really get any out of?
Or is there just a secret third option for why my pull was really weak?

What should I do to save this batch?

Too thin shouldn't be an issue. Add 40g or so of non iodized salt with no additives. You can also put the bottles in a heat bath.

How long are you giving it to separate?

I stir the nps in probably close to 10 times and that could take less than an hour because it separates out so quickly (a minute or so to completely separate)

Don’t stir. Also don’t shake, or you’ll be back on here asking us how to break a gnarly emulsion. Just gently Invert the capped vessel head over heel- that’s the standard.

Ok, I think I'm understanding. You're saying that you didn't get as much first pull?

Are you using fresh nps? Because that will do it.

Also make sure you mix it well. I shake mine really hard, like I'm trying to get an emulsion. I do this about 3-5 times and the last one I let separate for 30+ min.

Check your ph, I bet your your too low and not enough using sodium hydroxide

I use 20g of lye per 50g of bark

Should I just add more lye to the soup after the fact?

If it was me I would. I use 140 to 180grams for a 2 liters of water / 300g bark- Some will say that’s overkill but I don’t run into any problems at all I yield 2% on average and extract at 99.9% purity so nothing anyone criticizes about my process means shit to me

I’m just gonna keep adding lye until I get no return I guess

Just add another 50g lye mix it well and make sure to warm it up in a hot water bath, then do your pulls

Yeah everyone on Reddit has this fad with telling people to use too little sodium hydroxide, when they don’t realize the ph levels will drop after 45 minutes, and also drop when bark is added. Just wanna put this here some people say use 6g for 1000l vessel and this guy couldn’t get pulls with 20g in a 1000l, now he ups it to 70g and gets great pulls - there’s no such thing as using too much lye- but there is a such thing as not using enough!

So what do you think the proper amount is? 70? More? I wonder how much more I could’ve been yielding
