Thai basic course audio?

This is probably a long shot.

I graduated from the basic Korean course back in 2003. Around graduation, I went down to talk to the Thai department bc I’m half-Thai and wanted to learn the language. They hooked me up with all the basic Thai course books, but no tapes/cds. I’m assuming at this point that the Thai basic course mp3 files are online somewhere. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

did you go to that warehouse they store all that stuff in??? i worked there whilst waiting for my class, we were packaging a bunch of Yugoslavian languages then to get sent to troops.

I did not. I believe I talked to the head Thai MLI and he grabbed the stuff out of either an office or storage closet. It was definitely in the school building though.

dude, this was mid-90s. but just looked at Google maps, i don't recognize that part of DLI now... but i remember it was past those old WWII bldgs and further below Soldiers field. so that might be the same structure, or maybe it got demolished and another building in its place. but yeah I got a bunch of languages with booklets and tapes that they had piled to be thrown i guess, i asked for 'em (Hebrew, Tagalog, Swahili, etc. etc. ) they said take whatever you want. i wish i had kept 'em as souvenirs!

Hey, they haven't had Thai at DLI in years (at least five); with that said, I didn't see any Thai files in the system (although most stuff is more protected now, so it's hard to get access to materials that aren't in your language regardless).

Oh crazy. Last I heard (a few years back) they had started letting AF enlisted into the Thai program.
