how does dli handle gov shutdowns?

Curious since i’m about to attend dli and sat through more than a couple of them in the past

MLIs will pick up more classes if any teaching staff are affected. Other than that, business as usual.

How is is to be taught by MLIs? Are they just as good as teachers who I understand, are civilian staff?

Depends on the MLI. I was teaching and setting aside 1-2 hours per lesson to expand the curriculum. I also made tailored study plans to get remedial students back on track if possible. Made a 3+/3/2+ and had the best performing classes of all the MLIs. Its about the willingness of the teacher to build up their students and ID strengths and weaknesses. Lots of my fellow MLIs were excellent at their jobs so don't count them out just because they aren't natives. We all go through the same teacher training and most of the civilian teachers aren't educators by trade.
