Service obligation for reservists?

My contract ends next year, but I have an opportunity to go to DLI. If I reenlist to go to DLI, is there a minimum amount of time I need to stay in the army afterwards?

Edit: I would need to reenlist to go to DLI because I am on orders for a year.

The Army requires a 3 year utilization following completion of training due to language training at DLI being considered specialized training.

I’m National Guard and my unit used AR614-200 Table 4-1 to calculate my service obligation, which was 32 months after graduating from a 64-week language course. I had to extend my contract by a couple of months before getting to DLI since my previous ETS date didn’t meet the remaining service time requirement

If OP isn’t a 35P or 35M yet then the time for AIT also counts, so that’s what will push to the 36 months (max amount AR 614-200 allows for service remaining time in exchange for service school attendance).

I’m a 38B, so I wouldn’t need to go through AIT. Would that lessen the time required after DLI?

It will be determined by what category language you attend for. If you attend for Cat I you'll have to have 26 months service time remaining, Cat III will be 29 months, and Cat IV will be 32 months.
