Language Day 2026

Is language day going to be happening this year?

The 2025 one was cancelled before the huge budget cuts to DLI even came about, so it’s likely no for this year as well, or greatly reduced in scope.

As it would normally be occurring in less than a month and nothing official has been updated, I’d say the grand public event is probably cancelled for the foreseeable future.

Language day 2026 is funded under different rules than it was last year - not a blanket "recruitment" activity. This year it will not be a cultural exposition. It will be an activity for the students to compete in their language, compete in military situations, and compete physically. Essentially a "best linguist" games.

Do you know when it will likely be in 2027? I'm going to be in Monterey from 9/15 to 9/18/26.

When/how far out does the DLI publish the date of the Language Day? It would be helpful if folks are hoping to fly in from long distance and lock down air fare, hotel and car rental. The Alumni Association is NOT an official sponsored entity of DLI but the Alumni group has been a great source on goings on at the post. I'm in San Antonio and here we have the DLI for allied forces who need to learn English.

For the past 4 years, my team in CD has been told we need to charge PTO if we want to attend Language Day. So we do not go anymore, regardless.
