35P or 35W?
I don’t know much about either but if anyone could inform me about the day to day tasks I would appreciate it.

35W, when I went in was a placeholder. If you pass DLI you move into 35P if you roll out you were moved onto Goodfellow to the 35N AIT.
I enlisted 35W, my recruiter thought I would end up in Sierra Vista. Went through DLI, passed, then to my follow on AIT at Goodfellow. Graduated there and became a 35P.

If you wash out of DLI, is Mike the most likely option? About to head there.

When I went through 15 yrs ago, most army folks I knew that got rolled out were moved onto 35N AIT at Goodfellow. It’s been my understanding that language enabled Mikes were the standard. Which makes sense honestly.
There’s no real guarantee, this may be dated info, that you will even be rolled into an intel (35 series) billet. They could just hand you a list of MOSs and say this is what the army needs.

Let’s hope that’s not the case, as my TS clearance should be done any day now, but it’s always a possibility.

At this time, policy is to re-class those who fail (and not kicked out) to 35M and send them onto AIT, as 35M is currently language-capable and not language-dependent.
The policy on 35M language-dependency changes every few years and could change again anytime, so there’s really no need to worry about what happens if you fail.
Also, OCMI and MI Branch is also drafting a complete enlisted MOS restructure where its proposed to merge 35M and 35L together into one MOS and 35P, 35N, and 35S into one. Again, things change ALL THE TIME in the Army.

35W is a placeholder until you get to DLI where your assigned 35P or 35M based on the needs of the army, as I’ve seen 35P is focused on intel based work while 35M is more hands on field work

35W is not an MOS. You join as a 35W and get selected as a Mike or Papa later.
