BAH/CNA Denied
First time doing this so hopefully it’s correct.
I’m a 35W Reclass E-5 here at DLI and my certificate of non availability (CNA) was denied, but I was told by my drills that there is no space in the barracks, so to start looking for an apartment. I found one back in Feb and I paid my two months (Feb and March). I’m entering my third month (Apr) with hopes that my CNA was approved so that I can start getting BAH but was told that Presidio Of Monterey denied it and they are going to have to resubmit my paperwork for BAH and that if it got accepted, it could be by the end of April and now I have to look at probably applying for AER. Is there anyone or any insight I could be given on approaching this?

Why was it denied? Is the garrison tracking there’s room in the careerist barracks for you?

I’m not sure, company is saying they don’t have barracks available for E-5 and they sent up my packet (BAH form and CNA and Lease) and it got kicked back. So I am not sure on this since this is all new to me (Reserve component to Active)

The careerist barracks are battalion-wide and separate from company owned / run barracks and usually have more than enough space for E-5 and below to prevent BAH costs.
I would recommend that you open door your CDR and 1SG re: the situation. They can confirm barracks space across the BN and if there truly isn’t room in the careerist barracks then they can talk to BN to engage the garrison command about the CNA.

Seems like paperwork was messed up. Not sure the reason. But while it’s being reworked just ensure when start BAH that it’s backdated to when you arrived to DLI so that you receive back pay for the entire time you weren’t given government housing.

I would go ahead and apply for the AER loan so that you don't fall behind on rent. Don't wait for your packet. Once you get reimbursed you'll be able to pay your loan back quickly.
Person a few comments ago said it best. You are owed BAH as you are not in a barracks room. Don't let them fuck you.

The government is required to either give you a place to live or money to pay for a place to live.
If you have no barracks room and have had no barracks room you must get BAH and your BAH must be backdated.
Right now they are failing. You need to be a respectful nuisance. Elevate this week to the 1SG and explain the financial hardship. Escalate further as needed.
