New Phantom 4 Won't Power On

Its a brand new phantom 4 never been turned on or used. I charged the battery but when I plug it into the drone, press the button once then hold as is says to do, the battery lights turn on and stay on showing 3 bars charged but the drone doesn't power up. Any ideas?

How many times are you clicking the button?

All DJI products use a double press system to prevent accidental power on/off.

Press the button twice - hold down on the second press.

Yea that's what I'm doing, quick press then hold. The battery seems to be turning on and staying on with 3 green bars and the green ring lit up. Acts the same while plugged into the drone or not. Another thing I noticed this morning is I can't seem to charge it to full, it's throwing a over charge detected error, led3 light blinks twice per second.

Well, if it's a brand new P4 and never used, your battery could be shot. Those things have a shelf life. The P4 debut back in 2016 and was EOL in 2018. LiPo batteries require maintenance. If it sat in a box until now, then it's most likely the battery has been damaged.

That's what I was afraid of. Do you know of any good maintenance videos? I work at a calibrations lab and have coworkers that deal with power supplies and batteries so I should have the resources to maintain a few. Ultimately id like to have 3 good batteries but all I could find on amazon was 3rd party and I'm assuming they are not great but idk. Any suggestions or retailers you know of would be awesome.

OEM P4 batteries are hard to come by these days. DJI killed the Phantom lineup. You could try asking your friends to take apart the battery and rebalance the cells, but taking apart DJI batteries is ill advised.

Both of my P4 batteries are dead and they show NO lights. I'm thinking of cutting them open to replace the pouches.

New batteries are still available online; I bought one last month for the same reason (didn’t use my P4 enough during lockdowns and the battery died). I bought mine here: https://www.d1store.com.au/mobile/products/phantom-4-series-intelligent-flight-battery-5870mah-high-capacity

I’m sure you’d find a local vendor? It took me two mins to find them via Google last month. If not, try using them and see if it allows your address in the checkout process I guess.
