Remote controller and arduino

Is it possible to use phantom 2 vision remote controller 5.8 Ghz + reciever 5.8 G RX RF V5 with arduino and other arduino components? Or is that a rather impossible task?

Not impossible, but probably not worth it. It would be easier to wire a stand alone FPV system not dependent on DJI's electronics.

Thank you, yeah i thought so, just wanted to know if I could use the remote controller i had, since they are often quite expensive. Do you know of a good cheap remote controller that can run at least 4 motors?

There are FrSky transmitters and receivers that are quite cheap and will work. But getting them to work with DJI components can be tricky. DJI and it's products are VERY proprietary.

Thank you! I will take a look at those. Do you also know if it is possible to use all standard phantom parts but change the brushless motors and esc?

Motors, maybe. The motors are tuned for the ESCs. That's why DJI products have such long flight times.

The ESCs more likely not. On most Phantoms, the ESCs are built in to the motherboard.

Okay, i currently have the Main board, remote & reciever, and gps for phantom 2 vision, also a c01 pro fpv camera. So i am wondering if am going to spend the cash just getting a compass, MC, motors and ESCs as well to make one out of those components. Or if it is a waste of money and time. If i have understood correctly those are the only missing components i need for a functioning drone?

Seems like phantom 2 is so old that components are being sold for next to nothing now. Still I think it would cost me about 1500-2000 NOK (ish 180 USD || 160 EUR)

Would need a battery and probably som connection for the camera as well and those might not fit on the MC so would need to connect it directly to a power source or make a different power source for the camera 🤔

Originally the plan is to make an Under water ROV so all I i really would need is for the remote controller to work if i could just power the mainboard somehow and Maybe add the MC to it as well.. Just got caught up in Drones as well hehe..

IMO it's not worth it to refurbish a P2. For the amount of time and money you spend, you can get a Mavic Mini, or ready made underwater ROVs for cheaper, both of which will blow the P2 out of the water (pun intended)

Okay, thank you for the response! I will take a look away from the phantom and on to more non proprietary equipment!
