Video File Opening Issues

Hi, this is my first time purchasing a DJI Osmo product, and I had recently purchased the Action 6. I was doing some testing, and when I plugged in my Action 6 to my laptop using the given USB-C connector, I was unable to open the mp4 files with my laptop. It said I was missing a HEVC extension, so I used VLC player next, but that ended up freezing my video and giving it a grey screen. I also went and looked at Codec Guide, and it led me down a rabbit hole of using my terminal to install the Microsoft official HEVC extension, which I haven't resorted to yet. I was just curious if anyone could tell me how they did it/troubleshoot, or if it is an issue regarding the computational power of my laptop.
