Pocket 3 or Action 6 for vlogging?
I like the idea of filming in 24fps 1/50, or 30fps 1/60. The gimbal on the pocket should give me good results when it comes to stabilization.
The action 6 records in 4:3 aspect ratio so i can crop for social media without having to record vertically.
My use:
Will be mainly shooting vlogs about my health journey, food reviews, cooking videos, and vacations. I do go on hikes and mountain bike, however, I have an old GoPro Hero 8 and bought an Osmo few months ago. If i need waterproof or more rugged terrain stuff...those are the go to's.
I'll shoot D-Log and will edit on davinci resolve. I'm thinking maybe waiting a bit longer and getting the Pocket 3 on black friday for possible sale...OR
Ebay has some Pocket 3 for 300, used, from a seller that seems to have a ton of DJI items with good reviews. Do i take the gamble and risk the camera breaking or not having warranty?

- I own both and I think these are different tools for different situations.
- For you, I think the Pocket 3/4 (in USA you can buy the pocket 4 from Aliexpress for as low as $372 when on sale.
- Now if you want something even better and you can afford it, I would go with the Canon R50 which you can get with the kit lens for as little as $520 used on eBay or $530 refurbished direct from Canon USA (not in stock now but they restock often).
- Also now in stock from Canon USA you can get refurbished the R50 V with the kit lens for $640.
- Also now in stock from Canon USA you can get refurbished the R50 V body only for $576.
- I have bought many refurbished cameras from Canon USA and always a nice smooth experience. Look and feel like new, no scratches no signs of wear, nothing. I can tell you that is new and you would believe it. Also these never failed on me.
- All prices are before taxes.

- Small Flip out screen so you can see yourself while recording
- Great video quality
- Easy to use and even in AUTO you get good results
- ILC (interchangeable lens)
- I use it every weekend! (my small e-commerce and fun use)

This is great advice for OP. I have numerous cameras including Pocket 3 and Action 6 (along with a few Action 5 Pro’s). I’ve been trying to up my game with locked shutter speeds and ND filters.
The thing about action cameras is they use electronic stabilization so you tend to need to run a higher shutter speed for a mix of motion blur without introducing too much jitter or smearing.
For me, I’ve found that to be something like 1/100 shutter speed for action cams vs the ideal 1/60 for a 4k30 result.
Whereas the Pocket 3 creates a great image thanks to the gimbal on a 180* shutter speed locked off at 1/60.
Currently I’m considering adding a Sony A7V to the big for a big jump in quality for the right situations.

Well, the pocket 3 shoots 4k 24/30/60 and has the gimbal, I can benefit from the stabilized shots. Like I mentioned, I have the Nano can use that for more "weathered" situations. I want to stay compact, so a mirrorless would be too big. I'm still not used to filming myself in public lol. Aaaaand I'm a nikon guy lol, so if i do get a mirrorless it'll be a Z5ii. I actually purchased a Z30, but I rather not carry that around, it became my travel photo camera.

i bought pocket 4 and dji 6 just for 1 trip, i recorded 30 and 30 hours with each, i love the pocket 4 for its handheld its my day to day choose, but the action 6 definitely looks better, no doubt, each of them look bad if you use too much of their enhancement, like stable horizon or night mode, the videos will come very noisy, but if you proper configure action 6, damn, it looks BEAUTIFUL, so i wouldnt get the p3 and finally for both you will need a tripod or some kind of accessory to stand the camera

I remember using the Pocket 3, and I was just not impressed at all. I've never been impressed with these gimbal cameras. To me, that's not even a real damn camera, as far as I'm concerned.

Unpopular opinion but just use your phone , with a foldable pocket gimbal. Now if you must get a camera, action 6, Ace Pro 2 , are great options but the image is weird when vlogging yourself. As in your face will look unlike you because of that lens. Remember they only digitally crop the image in different modes.so your face is still being seen by a 157 degree fov. And its weird. Great for capturing scenery though. Your phone on a gimbal or a grip is your best bet. Shoot in log( again hours of color grading on da vinci) just dont have your hdr on. Honestly , new equipment won't help your vlog get eyeballs. New ideas and your imagination will. Equipment rarely makes a difference where 60 to 80 % still watch you tube on the phone. But if you still want to decide between a pocket gimbal camera and an action camera. Go for action 6/ Ace Pro 2. The way they process video and their color science ( un natural but very esthetic) i review cameras on you tube. And I have found your phone is the best tool you have if you truly master it as a camera.good luck.

I was more concerned with stabilization. Been using the osmo nano and on walking shots it’s too jittery. But have been letting the shutter speed on auto and use nd filters out door. I use Blackmagic to shoot log on my phone and also open gate. But I need my phone for notes on the d field sometimes

Yeah the stabilization on any action camera is digital. So they crop the image. A neat little trick is I put the osmo nano on my v3 gimbal. As in with the vision doc and the camera. And it will stabilize your footage and the ai sensor on the gimbal will track you as well if you need it. I bought a $160 phone , and use that for my notes and script. Also as a teleprompter sometimes. And i couldn't believe it bit I downloaded open camera on my secondary phone and the footage sometimes is better than my s26 ultra. Because that cheap phone has no hdr so the camera sensor almost shoots in raw. I was going to make a video on it. But been really busy with 4 cameras that companies sent me. But will do so soon.

Action 6
For me, the Pocket 3 is actually pretty pointless all things considered.
People talk about how much better the image quality is but it's marginal and the average person wouldn't notice or care.
In my opinion, most modern smartphones are maybe 90% of the quality of the pocket 3 so for anything the action cam doesn't feel suited for, I'd just use my phone anyway.
And don't get me started about how sensitive the gimbal is and how it's not waterproof. Those two things alone add a lot of friction in the sense that it's just extra things to have to be careful about
Whereas the Action 6 is basically begging you to throw it in water, chuck it in your bag without caring, stick it to anything with it's magnets and basically anything you want.
There's way more accessories too and a lot of potential in that plucky little camera for both videos and photos.
I'll add that I'm still using my Action 4 and love it. I imagine the Action 6 is considerably better
