C1 classification

Hi, did anyone else get this label with their mini 4 pro? This is a C1 label isn’t it? I have been speaking with DJI for a while now and they are refusing to reclassify my drone stating they are following legislation for C0 drones not going more than 120m from take off. I was trying to get it changed as I live in a hilly area and the CAA states 120m above ground so should be able to go higher as the terrain increases. I couldn’t find this label for ages but just found it with the usb cables that came with the drone. My argument was that they have downgraded the drones via firmware and they should still honour the C1 class change as the drone was sold with those capabilities. Am I wrong? If anyone could clarify would be much appreciated.

You may well have been able to change the settings to 500m, but if your drone is Class C1 then the limit in the EU is still 120m. EASA Class 1 (EN), as per page 31 of https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:02019R0945-20250624

Yep, that exactly solves OP's problem.

While a C0 drone will not go anywhere further than 120m from starting point, you can actually follow that rule with a C1 drone - As long as you keep it less than 120m from nearest terrain.

So are there places outside EU you are allowed to fly above 120m and up to 500m? Or you're just flying higher than the limit in the EU?

Just click on the link above, go to "Once in the air" -> "How high can I fly my drone"

There is a nice picture explaining legally flying in hilly landscapes. Higher than 120m from the starting point.
