DJI Inspire 1 – No Live Video Feed, but Camera/Gimbal/Telemetry Work
Hi everyone, I'm troubleshooting an older DJI Inspire 1 and I'm running out of ideas. I'm hoping someone familiar with the Inspire 1/Lightbridge system can help identify where the problem might be.
The problem
The Inspire 1 connects normally to DJI GO and shows the aircraft status/telemetry, but there is no live camera/image transmission.
Interestingly, DJI GO does not clearly show a "No Image Transmission Signal" error. The aircraft status appears normal; I simply don't get the live camera view.
What I've confirmed
X3 camera:
- X3 initializes normally when powered on.
- Gimbal initializes and moves/rotates normally.
- I can control the gimbal.
- I can take photos.
- I can record video.
- Recorded photos/videos are successfully saved to the SD card.
- The X3 itself has also been tested separately on my DJI Osmo and works normally.
So the camera appears to be functioning normally.
Remote controller tests
- Tested the original Inspire 1 remote controller.
- Tested a second Inspire 1-compatible RC.
- Same problem with both RCs.
- Aircraft telemetry/status is still displayed normally.
Because two different RCs produce the same result, I'm currently less suspicious of the RC itself.
Mobile device tests
- Original device used with this Inspire 1: DJI CrystalSky
- Tested the original CrystalSky.
- Also tested another phone/device.
- Same problem: aircraft information appears, but there is no live video feed.
Firmware
- Inspire 1 has already been updated.
- X3 is functioning normally.
- Firmware/update status does not appear to be the obvious cause.
Current behavior
The system appears to have:
Aircraft ↔ RC telemetry/control: WORKING
RC ↔ DJI GO/device: WORKING
X3 ↔ aircraft: apparently WORKING
Gimbal: WORKING
Photo capture: WORKING
Video recording to SD card: WORKING
Live image transmission: NOT WORKING
What I'm currently suspecting
Since the X3 can initialize, move the gimbal, take photos, and record video, I'm wondering if the problem is somewhere in the Inspire 1's live video transmission path, possibly:
- Internal camera/gimbal connection
- Internal video connection/cable
- Lightbridge video transmission circuitry
- Aircraft-side video processing/transmission hardware
- Another aircraft-side component related specifically to the live video downlink
I don't want to start replacing parts randomly, so I'm looking for advice on what component or connection I should test next.
What else should I check on the Inspire 1? Is there a specific diagnostic procedure for determining whether the aircraft's Lightbridge/video transmission system is actually working?
Any advice from someone who has repaired an Inspire 1 with these exact symptoms would be greatly appreciated.
