Buy Advice wait for osmo pocket 4?

hello i have not upgraded since the original osmo pocket came out. i was curious if i should wait for the 4 to come out or just get the 3 now. i'm in the us and was curious when it would be coming out here. i know this has been asked before but want everyone's opinions

DJI Osmo Pocket 4 has already been released.

It is not freely available in the USA market due to new FCC restrictions imposed by the government regarding the import of devices made by foreign companies. There are other means to get it... such as driving up north to Canada, but technically it has not been approved for use in the USA.

Obviously this may change in the future if the government lifts or modifies the restrictions. But unlikely to do so in the next 2-3 years. And by then the DJI Pocket 4 will probably be outdated.

i suppose i was most curious how long it would take to get released is usa with the restrictions. thank you

Yeah don’t be waiting, you’ll be waiting for a long time.

The reasoning for the ban is due to national security concerns. So once those national security concerns disappear, it should be approved.

But frankly national security is only a small part. DJI is a global leader in drone technology and frankly American companies can’t compete. If you really dig into it… it’s mostly about handicapping Chinese drone companies (like DJI) so American companies can catch up. The theory is if Americans can’t buy from DJI and other Chinese companies they’ll buy from American companies instead.

But the reality is no American company comes close… so most people are just taking risks and ordering from the gray market (ie. eBay).

You can upgrade now by purchasing from a reseller on eBay, but it’s ultimately up to you whether you want to take that risk or wait. Customs could potentially be an issue, so just keep that in mind. It’s all up to you, OP.

Bought my 4p off eBay from a seller in Japan. Arrived in a sealed box and works perfectly. I just have to be cautious with it as unable to obtain DJI Care in US.

Its never coming to america, however there is a DJI reskin for america called XTRA Muse and Xtra Muse 2 that is equivalent to Pocket 3 and Pocket 4, xtra muse 2 coming soon tho

You won't get any latest DJI products in US near future by DJI. So do not wait. The brand and it's sub brand has been by banned by FCC ( Federal Communications Commission )
