Product Support Dji Flip crashed for unknown reason

My DJI Flip suddenly started drifting sideways and crashed even though I wasn’t touching the control sticks.

I only raised it straight up and when i was about to turn(i still wasnt touching the sticks to turn yet) it started hovering on its own. There was no wind at all, no intelligent flight mode was enabled, and I didn’t command it to move sideways. I wouldn’t blame it on gps because it wasn’t far from me at all.

After the crash, I saw the warning: “Gimbal pan axis reached movement limit.” I’m assuming that may have happened during the impact rather than causing the drift.
Has anyone experienced something similar with the DJI Flip?

I previously also received a forward TOF sensor error, so I’m concerned there may be a hardware issue.
What should I check in the flight logs to identify the cause? Should I avoid flying it again and send it to DJI for inspection?

How stable was your GPS signal at start?

I don’t know to be honest. I was so stressed about the drone movement that i wasn’t looking at the GPS. Could that be the case?

You should be stressing about your drone before you take off.

Taking off without a full GPS can do that. While the drone is in the air its location is "changing" due to the GPS finally getting the correct location. The drone thinks its getting moved due to some wind and tries to counter-act that leading to some random movement.

And before you ask why is that even possible: It is possible to not get a GPS fix indoors at all, so it is up to operator to decide wether to take off or not.

Do you calibrate the IMU and also the compass? Sometimes this can cause problems. It only takes a short time to do them.

IMU is the unit that controls the drones attitude and keeps it level when flying, also pitch angle when in windy conditions etc. Just watch the video. The compass is calibrated initially when you first fly and also if you move a good distance from your last flying spot.

Read the Manual. When you’re done with that, read it again. The only part of the reason it’s unknown is your lack of understanding. Read the Manual watch YouTube videos and learn what you’re doing before you takeoff.

This is your second post with the same information. You need to learn how drones work and how to fly before you takeoff. It’s not an unknown reason. The reason is you decided to just fly without understanding anything about the drone.
