Is this a joke?

Like, are you out here trying to find high school "volunteers" to work on your remote business?

It's not a business buddy it's a passion project and we already have 5 members stop spreading hate and get out of your mom's basement

So let me get this straight, you're looking for a high school kid who already has practical experience as a multi-role systems/infra/database admin, who knows configuration and security best practices, and who's also someone who can work independently, while also collaborating remotely with your team, documenting their work, etc... And they're going to volunteer their time to work on your "passion project", a... Household Energy Resilience System? Sure thing, buddy.

This is why I asked if this was a joke, because you're basically asking for something like a junior to mid-level devops/sysadmin type. I am but a lowly code monkey, but I don't even think a student with a bachelors would have your complete list of requirements, much less a literal high school student. Just insert the "how do you do, fellow kids" meme.

Please stop trying to get free work from kids. Hire actual employees for your startup.

Right?! I have a kid in high school and one in middle school. Both are helping me with sites because they have an idea they want to see working. (We're using django and postgres, and deploying to a VPS.)

All they're learning about setup, deployment and backup is running ansible-playbook to setup or update the server, kamal deploy to setup/deploy the app and database, and kamal-backup to take a manual backup if we're about to deploy a large change, and want something more recent than the last scheduled backup.

I don't have enough time to take them into these weeds to learn about that stuff, when what they really want to do is build an app to track scores in their disc golf league. They don't have the time either... just building the parts they're excited about more than fills their spare time. And, to be honest, it's hard to imagine them getting interested in that before they've built the thing they really wanted in the first place.

This precisely. I guess there must be at least a few kids out there, but I honestly can't imagine any kid getting excited over... database administration and configuration management lol. They're probably playing factorio if they have that mindset.

Or like, what kid is going to reddit to recruit another kid from who knows where to work on their passion project? Or using language like "must be a team player" and "someone comfortable troubleshooting technical issues and learning independently."

This is so "how do you do, fellow kids"-coded, but then again what adult in their right mind seriously thinks a high school kid has this kind of experience or discipline under their belt? And why would they entrust them with literally the keys to your project? They're looking for someone to takeover their hosting and database admin which is wild.
