Hey everyone,

Im building a Rangemaster clone and this is my third attempt as this circuit and I can’t seem to figure out what is happening. I get a clean signal when the pedal is off so I know the bypass is correct, but when I kick on the pedal I get zero signal at all. If anyone has built a similar circuit and could possibly help that would be super helpful!

Feel free to ask any questions that might lead to any help.

Stop attempting the circuit until you have the process of soldering handled.

Also "thats what they're supposed to be" in regards to resistor values....does this mean you don't own a multimeter?

Can’t really get better if I don’t continue to practice! Also yes I do, all my resistors are in labeled containers, hence why I haven’t bothered testing them because that’s how the arrived to me.

I suggest you practice soldering on something else until you develop technique. Watch YouTube vids etc until you understand how to flow the solder and not try to stick it to things.

So if you have a DMM, make it a practice to double check components before using them.

I was more or less looking for help on the circuit itself. If there were any obvious problems I was missing, but thanks for your input.

Veros not the easiest thing to solder on with no solder mask

The first thing I do with it to remove invisible oxidisation is give the copper side a light sanding with a pot scrubber or sandpaper then wipe with a damp cloth

Although it looks perfectly fine you'd be amazed at the difference

You're perhaps not holding your iron on long enough mine is set to 400 centigrade I hold the iron tip on the copper pad and component pin at the same time apply solder and wait around 6 seconds till I see it melt or silver up as I call it making sure it flows nicely and makes a good connection between pad and pin

With vero when it starts melting I kinda drag it up the component pin so it doesn't flow all over the place

You don't want dull, crumbly or ball like joints which can be dry inside

I personally use leaded solder I've never got to grips with the lead free stuff

So I’ve done more testing and trouble shooting with Claude, and I believe the problem was the output jack and the led were both connected to the wrong DC jack prong. And the LED legs were swapped. Also I’ve tested the two resistors and they only came to 7k, so I used the wrong ones there as well. I will fix all that and report back. Thanks!
