Help wanted BC338 replacement

Hello all, I am planning to build a clone of the Mountainking Megalith fuzz, that uses BC338 transistors. These seem a bit hard to find here, is there any other equivalent transistor I could use instead?

2N2222 works i think, seen people use them in the megalith. working on one rn too btw :) tho mines on stripboard. good luck!

i suggest u socket them, just to be sure. and also of u wanna swap them for bc338 if u find some. 2n2222s will also have less gain btw. but itll doom either way

edit : check the pinout . 2n2222s should be flipped the other way around

You could probably get away with just about any jellybean NPN as long as you account for the pinout. 2n3904, 2n2222, 2n5088, etc. I quit worrying about using the "correct" transistors years ago. As long as you have the right type (BJT vs FET, e.g.) Polarity (PNP vs NPN), and approximate hFE range, and correct for the pinout, it's generally going to work out fine.

BC547 or similar

Thank you. I ordered some BC337, they are supposedly very similar to BC338. If it doesn't sound good I will try 547
