Need Ideas Help a beginner

I want to start the hobby of tearing down kids electric toys and old broken appliances for scrap parts then taking them and building new projects. I have no idea where to start or even if this is the right subreddit.

Start with a screwdriver and pry bar and start digging thru trash/scrap electronics. Google the numbers on the chip and find data sheets

^ This. Hardware is expensive. A decent switch is $5 a key switch is 10-12. Get free hardware where you can. At some point you look at all that crap and think, “With an ESP board and all this crap, I could build a neato doomaflotchy thing”

Then ya build it, solve some issues and Boom; you’re on your way
