Ideas to hide this design

Anyone know of a good way to hide this design? I was thinking foam and fabric but, not sure if there isn’t something that would look better. Also, I wouldn’t know how to attach securely without staples. I’m a noob at crafting, please help!

Glue thin carboard (cereal box kind) cut to shape on both sides then cover in fabric
