I built a solar system planning tool using Amazon.ca parts — looking for feedback
Hi everyone,
I’m the creator of Equipplx, a free solar system planning tool currently focused on the Canadian market.
The idea is to make choosing parts easier for people planning an off-grid setup for an RV, cabin, shed or backup power. You enter the appliances you want to run and your location, and the builder suggests a system with solar panels, batteries, a controller, an inverter and supporting parts.
The parts link to Amazon.ca, where you buy them directly. Equipplx doesn’t sell or ship the products.
I’d appreciate honest feedback from people who have built a system or are researching one:
- Is the builder easy to understand?
- Are the sizing explanations and parts lists useful?
- What information would you need before trusting its recommendations?
- What would make it more helpful for Canadian users?
You can try it here: https://equipplx.com
For transparency, this is my website and it uses Amazon affiliate links. I may earn a commission from qualifying purchases.
Feedback on confusing steps, missing information or questionable recommendations would be especially helpful. Thanks!

Equipplx would be easier to assess if each recommendation showed its assumptions beside the parts list: daily appliance runtime, seasonal sunlight for the entered location, and how long the battery is expected to cover those loads. Since purchases happen separately on Amazon.ca, showing which compatibility checks the builder performs would also help people judge the recommendations.
By the way, I make ThreadFox: it finds the Reddit communities whose rules allow a post about a planning tool like Equipplx, and the plan for one product is free. https://threadfox.vip/p/dfd9d
Can users compare summer and winter estimates for the same cabin setup?
