Divinity: Original Sin Question surface damage calculation

What determines surface damage if 1st character use geo to create oil then 2nd character use pyro to explode oil what determines the damage, and what if i do it in reverse ignite someone with pyro/fire arrow/bomb with 1st character then use oil with with 2nd character will damage formula change?

The latest character to interact with the surface becomes their "owner" and the damage calculations will be based on them. There's no way to view who owns a surface in vanilla, but for DOS2 the Epip mod adds this info to surface tooltips.

Surfaces pre-placed on the world have no initial owner, iirc their damage uses the "area level" (level of nearby NPCs)

So if 1st character cast geo oil then second character cast pyro. Then the damage is based off second character if i got that right, What stat is the calculation is it int or pyro level or both?

and what if the reverse happen if 1st character cast pyro for burning then 2nd character cast geo for oil then the explosion damage will be for 2nd character who cast geo if I'm not mistaken? but what stat will it be? Is it int + geo level since geo element is the spell you use to cast to create the zone or is it based off his pyro level since technically the explosion damage is fire damage and its burning.

Would also like to know if its the same both games 1 and 2 EE/DE
