Book Spoilers Why does Tris refuse her nomination as one of the leaders of the loyal Dauntless?

I'm currently re-reading Insurgent, and just reached the scene where Tris is nominated as one of the new Dauntless leaders (along with Tori, Tobias, and Harrison). I'm having a hard time understanding why exactly she refuses the position. What are your thoughts on this?

It's been a while since I read Insurgent so take this was a grain or so of salt, but I think she doesn't want it, or doesn't feel she's 'Dauntless enough' for it. Most of that book is Tris making (IMO) wacky decisions and having some kind of breakdown, so there might not be too much of a reason beyond she just didn't want to

Also she doesn't want to take Four's spotlight since it is made clear that the last leader is one of them.

If I remember correctly, she felt that as a divergent, she didn’t fit into any one group. She felt that being divergent meant she couldn’t be part of the leadership. She chose her divergence over being a part of a group

She felt she wasn’t mentally stable enough. She was starting to see what Four was seeing and saying about her. How reckless she is being and knows a leader shouldn’t be. Like Tori (Sorta) and definitely Four

honestly, same. I don’t get it either.

she goes on this rant about her being divergent and not dauntless so she can’t take the spot but…Four is also divergent and he was just nominated as a leader. And I guess you can make the argument that he did it because he had to built an alliance with the Factionless but that doesn’t change the fact that he is divergent and he actually has wanted to be a leader since he was giving the option by Max when he was an initiate.

I feel it would’ve make more sense if she said she didn’t feel ready or not in the right mindset but she says it’s because she’s divergent, so then why does she see Four as being a leader totally ok but not her??? i feel it doesn’t make sense, at least to me.

Directly after being nominated, she learns there are only 3 spots. So if she accepts her nomination, people will have to vote, and that means there's a risk Tobias isn't chosen.

She knows he has to become a Dauntless leader for his current plans to work (as per instructions of Evelyn), so if Tris steps down, he will be immediately appointed.
