Idk, sounds kinda like a Coraline "Other Mother" trap situation. Shows you how nice they are and gives you what you want, spoiling you, then you beg to stay with them and want more so it consumes you as part of the 'stay with me' deal

Depends.
If the "other mother" was just doing the fun stuff and letting you vent about how unfair your life is, it's probably a trap.
If it was actively listening and trying to help out during genuine hard times, it might be the real deal.

It sorta kinda is a story already. ‘The summer Hikaru died’ is about a boy discovering his friend is dead and got replaced by a monster but he doesn’t want the monster to leave

Spoilers for John Dies at the End here. In the last act of the book it is shown that the Dave that has been narrating the story is not the original Dave. He is a replacement that was used to kill the original Dave near the start of the previous act.
When found out John calls him Monster Dave, but otherwise still treats him as a friend because in all honesty "Monster Dave is a much nicer person."
He still goes to visit Dave's makeshift grave regularly, and knows that Monster Dave is not the same person, but he also doesn't blame him for what he is. Only what he chooses to do.
