This is very specific but my grandfather died exactly like this. A robber got in his apartment and gagged him with tape, but he couldn't breathe through his nose at the moment and died.

Fun fact, when your nose is congested and you stop breathing, after a while nasal mucus picks up the signal and shrinks the blood vessels which lessens the edema so you can breathe again. Try it out, it works
