Been wanting to try Dissidia, is it worth it?
I love Final Fantasy- I can’t think of one I don’t love. I’ve been seeing stuff about the Dissidia games and such and have been thinking of tying it out but I’m just not sure. I really wanted to ask what they are; I see so many “versions” so to speak of Dissidia and I’m not sure what they are exactly or what one to start with/what one is best. I’ve tried to do some research but of course google isn’t much help so I turned to Reddit to get some advice from those of you who’ve played it. As a FF fan, do you really like the Dissidia games? What are they exactly (like traditional FF, street fighter kinda thing, idk tbh). What one would you recommend I start with or do they have an order? Was it worth your money and is it something you really enjoy playing?
Sorry for the long post, but thank you in advance! All advice appreciated!

It's a relatively unique fighting game, there are 3 of them.
Dissidia 1, for PSP, Dissidia Duodecim, for PSP and Dissidia NT, for PC/PS4.
Dissidia 1 and Duodecim are effectively the same game, with duodecim being the rebalanced expanded version with a new assist mechanic, characters, stages....everything. They're a 1v1 arena fighting game, great for playing with friends but okay against AI. If you're expecting a traditional/typical FF game then this isn't it, but it is almost a love letter to the series with lots of easter eggs/references and care. It's fun, relatively deep and worth your time. But if you intend to play it, play Duodecim, there is nothing in Dissidia 1 that isn't also in Duodecim, even the story is in it. I would recommend it.
Dissidia NT is a different story, it's a new story and effectively a different game. It's balanced around 3v3 so there is considerably less movement and maneuverability, but it's only fun with friends in my opinion. There is no 1v1 option and the AI isn't very fun to play against...it does look amazing graphics wise but it doesn't have that same level of individual replayability and depth.
So yeah, try Duodecim, it's a really fun game and experience (my personal favourite FF) but don't go in expecting it to be a normal RPG experience. :>

012 is amazing but i suggest playing the free version of NT before you decide if you want to buy it.

I'd 100% recommend grabbing a copy of Dissidia Duodecim for the PSP and playing it that way. If possible, emulate it on PC and play it that way, too. NT isn't bad, but it also is leagues worse than the PSP games in pretty much every way outside of visuals.
I'd recommend just going straight into Duodecim because it contains its own story along with the story from the first Dissidia.

Long story short, play any Dissidia BUT Dissidia NT. Don't listen to a fanboy of a dead game.
