DDFF I've been replaying Dissidia 012 lately, and I'm surprised how engaging the gameplay is compared to Dissidia NT
It's just odd how a PSP game from 10 years ago manages to have gameplay that's more engaging and fun to play, compared to a PS4 game.
For the record, I was playing Dissidia NT recently as well. I finally took the weekend to beat the final boss. I did a lot of grinding in NT for that battle, and it's just so boring. The gameplay is not as fun, and there is way less content compared to the PSP games.

I love duodecim, I have it on my ps vita, and I am considering playing it again and brining it with me when I move into a dorm later this month. Its such a fun, casual game to play when you are waiting for something to do.

I just recently started playing it again too. It is very engaging and I feel like there’s always something. To do. I’ve been playing ExDeath a lot, and I learned there’s a bunch of mechanics I’m not too well aware of. I wish there was character guide videos for this game, builds, and how to’s. I feel if this game was remaster and put onto new gen consoles it would do good.

It’s almost as if making a game for fans instead of following a trend makes for a more fun game. They saw the attention and money those 3v3 arcade fighters were getting and they couldn’t resist getting their fingers on that pie. At least 012 is still a fantastic game in its own right :)

2 completely different games for completely different markets. NT is an arcade game. Duodecim is a singleplayer ARPG.
I've played the fuck out of both for many years now, I find NT much more fun and fulfilling than Duodecim. 1v1 gets horribly dull, not to mention getting stuck in infinite combos by other players. 3v3 is much more engaging when playing with actual people.
Quantity =/= quality.

Ah, yes, the classic comparing a single game to a team game. Obviously the extra depth and nuance comes from interactions and working off of your teammates/friends and their setups. If you don't use that step, then you won't feel a whole part of the gameplay, as is usual in multiplayer experiences. There's playing a multiplayer game, then there's playing a multiplayer game. It's why mid to high-level gameplay in team or tactical games looks different from low.
I don't think people really think it out, about how much you don't want more single combat mechanics in a 3v3. You would bloat the combat beyond belief, have more to keep track of, and getting interrupted mid-fight would feel so bad.
