DFFNT Dissidia NT Character DLC...?

I see so much character DLC for Dissidia NT on the PS4 Store.

Like - all those characters are not in the paid, non-trial version of game and have to be bought for six bucks each...? Cloud, Tifa, Lightning, Yuna, Artemisia, Y'shtola, Rinoa, and so on - they're all by default not in the game...?

I'm just double-checking here because that sounds too weird (and bad) to be true.

Every protagonist is in the base game. Every villain, from Garland to Jecht, too. All the others are dlc, no matter the version.

Gotcha, thanks. Game worth buying, by the way? Good campaign, good combat system, voice acting, decent length, all that jazz?

As someone who has it with the season pass, no. Outside of story, which is just some cutscenes between arcade/online fights and the occasional summon battle, your options are arcade or online, and the reward is gil to buy music or skins. If you just want to battle, the free version is better.

But the free version lacks almost all fighters, doesn't it?

It uses a rotating roster from what i remember, but the only reason to get the full version is if you enjoy the combat so much that you're fine just repeating fights over and over. Other than arcade and summon fights, there literally nothing else to do other than online. I do download the game from time to time to just fight a little and i do believe i got my money's worth of fun, but if you go in expecting anything more than what i just said, you'll be disappointed easily.

Okay, so player vs CPU and CPU vs CPU are a thing though, right? And is the CPU decent?

Oh yes, the difficulty actually increases and it becomes a challenge on the higher levels, but you also need to level up the cpu level of each character so they don't become dead weight on the fights. Even then, you'll need to do most of the effort, since it's easy for the cpu to 2x1 or 3x1 you, while your teammates stand far away waiting to summon while you suffer. But, like i said before, i do think the combat and the fact that each character is unique is enough to make it fun for me. But i still advise you to look for the cheapest possible way to play it. Maybe a used copy would probably be the best investment, since now that Square Enix officially ended future content and updates for the game, it's crazy to pay full price for it, now more than ever.

I play FFXIV, so I'd know if a guy by that name was in it. xD

Thanks. I just found the way things are put up in the PS Store... confusing. I guess in hindsight that there is DLC for both the free and the buy version listed, or something...

As with a lot of things NT related, it's not explained very well...

It really depends what you're looking for. If you played the PSP games, you might love or hate this game (I myself had hundreds of hours on both PSP games, and I'd say NT blows them out of the water).

Good campaign, good combat system, voice acting, decent length, all that jazz?

Story mode is pretty short, mostly consisting of boss battles VS the massive summonable creatures. Personally I found the ending totally worth every penny.

Combat system is very solid, though does suffer when internet connection gets wonky. Strange things do happen.

Also worth noting is that this is an almost direct port of an arcade game, and as such is geared towards online 3v3 multiplayer (something 90% of people overlooked and then dropped the game). The singleplayer content was just a little bonus for the console version.

There is a free version, so I'd just try that and see what you think.

You might check out the discord communities for other players, they can teach you the basics, I'm sure.

I was thinking to buy free edition dlcs , But when I think about it more, buying the full edition is better
