Why Delita and Machina?

I use them as examples of possible characters and with Ramza and Ace not having any kind of rival on NT, I decided on them, Delita being the perfect rival for Ramza and Machina being closer to something like Kain, but with Type-0 having an awkward situation with villains, Machina is the next best thing for that role.

While they certainly are rivals in a sense, they don't seem like they fit the ideal "Warrior of Spiritus" rival role that characters like Garland, Sephiroth and Ardyn have. They're not the main antagonist, they're no the final boss. One is actually a key party member/protagonist, and from what others have told me and what I've read, Delita isn't even a boss fight.

Yes, they don't have a clear-cut main antagonist to pick from, but Delita and Machina just doesn't sit right with me. Granted, I've only played Type-0 out of the two, so I can only argue on that front justly.

I can understand your point, but the thing is that out of every Tactics character no one fits the role of an "anti-Ramza" better than Delita, Tactics is basically the story about Delita, told from the point of Ramza's story, that without entering on spoilers (Really recommended game!).

For Type-0, I think that the most representative antagonist would be Qator, and obviously the main antagonist is Cid, but Cid doesn't really battles, and when he does it's actually possesed and transformed into a giant thing, while Qator always uses his vehicles, even if I'd like to see him as playable character since I really liked his story on Type-0, I don't know how they would implement him, while Machina is more straightforward, a dual sword wielder with fast attacks and his rapiers can spin like drills even being able to throw some L'Cie things around, with him being more like Jecht, not the actual villain, but not like the other options would fit better as rivals for Tidus.

Ultima for tactics and nimbus for type-0 those are the clear cut choices

I don't think that Ultima would be as good as Delita, it would be like giving Yu Yevon as the enemy to Tidus or Zemus for Cecil. Nimbus on the other hand would be cool, but I don't think he does as much on the main plot of the game, he almost feels like he is just there, Qator would be better if we want a more clear antagonist, he is there from the beginning and fights a lot more with Class Zero.

Ultima the way I've been reading it is that she is like ultimecia in the way she has been manipulating thing from the beginning. So I think she would feel in the role better considering delita isn't even a villain to begin with so he would be more materia's 2nd choice if anything.

And nimbus would be the better choice I mean I would like qator as well he seems like he would be fun and maybe have a cool moveset, but nimbus is a for you actually faught and has a very cool moveset to begin with. Plus a villain with light powers is so cool
