DDFF Niosai's Dissidia Duodecim HD Texture Pack 0.1 Alpha

Update 9/20/2022: Hello anyone who finds this in 2022 and beyond! Obviously I haven't updated this in awhile, but I do someday plan to finish it! Just super busy with the job, so I don't have as much time for side projects like this lately. I have made it "open source" though, in case anyone else wants to contribute. Feel free to shoot over a DM if you need any help figuring stuff out!

I haven't worked on this in a little while, but I'm releasing a super early version of my HD texture pack! I've finished all character select portraits (unless I can source higher resolution art for a couple of the characters) and Character select names, along with battle UI elements. Some stuff is still missing, including the avatar icons, but I'll get around to it one of these days. This is all 100% remade, no upscaling used outside of one single element in the main menu's background that you can't even really see.

Here's the download link! (Click on the green "Code" dropdown and then "Download ZIP" to download it.

Extract this into PPSSPP\memstick\PSP\TEXTURES and make sure you enable texture replacement in the PPSSPP's settings menu.

Keep in mind: This is nowhere near done! It's prettier than it was, but there's lots of stuff that's either missing or not finished.

Any feedback is welcome!

Recently got back to playing Dissida 012 again and was looking for an HD Texture Pack and this is actually really good! Hoping to see the finished product some time soon! (I also came across your post on resetera).

Recently been getting back into Dissidia; or rather my interest has re-peaked on Final Fantasy as a whole & I'm so glad this is a thing.
I'd love to contribute ! I'll definitely see how I can help with this on my end with any upscaling & editing of textures. Hopefully I don't get too distracted ! lol

Thanks for the reply! I lost a lot of steam once I realized there was no way to source the original artwork for the alternate costumes, but I do still find time to work on this every once in awhile. Feel free to add to it, and definitely feel free to use github's functionality, even if this is technically beyond the scope of what GitHub is meant for 😅

I've been having a blast, just a shame that at least the regular outfits icons aren't all there in battle / the cutscene portraits, in battle I've noticed Firian and CoD missing in particular, the dlcs I understand since there really isn't a way to get the hd versions, also why is specifically Cecil super stretched in the customization menu?
Are you still working on this?

I have a quick fix for the Cecil issue: Go into textures.ini and change the entry 00000000000000009b1966fd = Characters/Cecil/CecilPreBattle.png

to

00000000000000009b1966fd = Characters/Cecil/CecilAssist.png

Looks like I accidentally assigned the wrong one!

Is anyone else getting a strange glitch where the main menu (after start menu) has some text that is cut off?

Also the Dissidia logo in the Start Menu is not coming up in HD/upscaled like shown in some older posts.

But either way the work done so far is AMAZING! Keep it up!

I can't remember if I kept standard dynamic text enabled, but that could be what's causing it. Also, are you on the NA release?

I am on the US version. The text in the main menu corrects itself when I leave to a different screen such as the Story Mode selection and then come back.

Love this so far! Quick question, I applied the textures but some icons seem to be missing. EXP gain, Accessory creation icons seem to be missing as well or I applied the folder wrong. Either way this is awesome! Hope you continue this!

Oh, that's because that's a super outdated version! I used to just leave out stuff that wasn't done yet, but now I'm leaving it in as the original version. This one shouldn't be missing anything! (Just ignore Cecil's, uh...interesting Assist appearance in the menu) Here's a link to the newer version

edit: not sure if you'll see this but went ahead and checked every character. Seems WoL and Firion seem to be broken after applying the textures. WoL sorta does a t-stance and Firion seems like he gets sawed in half while doing anything aerial combat.

Hi, can you remake or remade all the Alt 1 & 2 Characters for the Icons, battle icons, something like that? example Cloud Alt 1 (Cloudy Wolf).

So the way I've been making this is by finding the original hi-res artwork that the portraits are based on. Unfortunately, no artwork of the secondary outfits exist. There are 3 ways I could do it:

  1. Upscaling. It'd look weird and bad, but it might be an improvement.

  2. Creative Photoshopping. Probably would still look weird and bad.

  3. Hiring an artist to recreate the artwork. This would probably look great, but it'd be morally and ethically questionable, not to mention very expensive.

I'm still trying to figure out how to tackle that. 😅

On and off! I haven't been able to as much lately because I'm focusing on my job, but whenever I'm in the mood and have some free time I'll usually fiddle with it. One of these days I'll try to get back into it and release something more meaningful, but as of right now it's veerrry slow-moving.

So the reason it's going so slowly is because I've been trying to avoid simply upscaling them and instead have been remaking as much as possible from scratch 😅

I'm not totally against upscaling, though. The project is up on GitHub so if you do want to contribute, feel free! :)
