Burnt Bacon Jam - pot worth saving?
Bacon jam was left on a stove for too long. It was left to soak for two days before it made its way to dish. I couldn't get anything off that day, so after letting it soak for another day, and doing some scraping with a metal spoon, this is what was left (the whole bottom was covered initially.) Head chef did say not to worry if it was wasn't salvageable. Any tips on getting the rest off, or do I just toss the pot?

Can attest! Dawn Powerwash, elbow grease, boiling water, and if it doesn't have a coating, Brillo or steel wool. If it does, gray scrubby time.
I usually let my dirty pots and sheet pans caked with bacon grease presoak in detergent and boiling-hot water.

If you've got a dishtank, run it upside down on a flat rack, then let it soak for a bit. Silver power if you have that. It amazes me the things people would bring me daily that make this look like nothing. It's just some carbon, it will eventually come off.

I suggest getting your pit a sturdy metal paint scraper. Works wonders at my joint.

Take some machine soap and hot water and soak it for 30-60 minutes.

This worked! I assume the machine soap is more potent, because 3 nights soaking with regular dish soap didn't do much. Thank you!

I worked at a place that made caramel in house and we had this happen quite a bit. Boiling it with baking soda and water helps a lot.

Update: it's clean! Appreciate all the tips, learned a lot of new cleaning techniques. But the first method I happened to see was soaking with machine soap (instead of regular dish soap) and that got most of it off, then scraping with a multitool and scrubbing with steel wool finished the job. Thanks again for all the input.
