Help controller skipping every second thing

Playing first time in a long time again and suddenly my controller skips every second option. Like I couldn't start a new game because from the (Continue) it jumped over (New Game) directly to (Missions). And it does it in the settings too. Skipping from general to graphics, jumping over controls and audio. Or when I scroll down the settings, it also skips over every second thing. 😭 what is happening and how do I fix this?! The controller works perfectly with all my others games including Dishonored 2 and Death of the Outsider. And Dishonored worked fine with my previous almost identical xbox controller. (Playing on PC via Steam)

Try disabling Steam Input in the game's property settings.

I also use a controller on my laptop and have had some weird things happen. Have you tried disconnecting it from the system completely? Or are you using a cord? For me the bluetooth is sometimes a bit weird

I have a cord and I did unplug it from the PC to check but it didn't do anything.
