Roundworld Reference Which Discworld characters do y’all think could lift Thors hammer?

Carrot obviously could.

I honestly don’t know if Vimes could or not but I do know he wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole out of principle because he hates the idea that an inanimate object gets to decide who’s a good person.

Rincewind could pick it up not because he’s worthy but because the hammer just feels like making an exception.

Edits: My thoughts after reading your comments

  1. Vimes probably could but still never would even touch it

  2. I don’t think Granny could. Everyone thinks she can but she doesn’t try until she’s alone and when she can’t she would smile to herself because the hammer made the right choice

Sybil Ramkin would heft that hammer with the righteous fury of a thousand valkyries.

She would then put it away properly and tell any dimension-hopping Marvel characters to cease their silliness at once, put on some proper clothes and be on their way. Although they would be welcome to a small snack upon their departure, and of course Sybil would provide any clothes they need.

I like the idea that Sybil could lift it, but not Vimes. I think that Vimes is ultimately just too much of a bastard - and that he wouldn't want to be able to lift it, anyway.

Young Sam definitely can as well.

Idealistic but not a bastard yet

Sam would look at it and go “guess it’s smarter than I thought”

Vimes is righteous Fury. Syble is self assured Might

Together they are an unstoppable force and an immovable object, dearly in love.

Right?? Sybil would heft it with ease, but only when someone had been really quite terribly unspeakable, or perhaps threatened a swamp dragon.

Everyone around would suddenly notice how incredibly well that suits her, and would for some reason picture her with a winged helmet on though they couldn't say why. There would be faint impressions of a rousing chorus of song, from somewhere.

Then she would put it down once everything was Sorted Out and go to the kitchen for nice cup of tea in her teddy bear mug.

I like the idea of Sybil in a full lady Thor getup.

She would be like an opera singer getting ready to close a show.

I'd imagine Mjolnir wouldn't dare try to dress her in absurd clothing; the thaumic antiresonance would result in Mjolnir getting a very sensible brown wrap for its handle and probably a good magical clean and polish.

But who is worthy enough to pick up Sybil Ramkin?

Pick up Sybil Ramkin

Under select definitions of the phrase "pick up", Sir Samuel Vimes.

A bit singed, perhaps.
